Driver critical after parkway crash STAFF REPORTS newsroom@ctpost.com Article Last Updated: 02/11/2008 12:42:11 PM EST
TRUMBULL — A Newtown man is in critical condition after his car struck a fallen tree near Exit 50 on the Merritt Parkway about 11 p.m. last night. The victim was identified by State Police as David Beauchemin, who was driving his 1999 Honda Accord south when it struck a fallen tree, veered off the right side of the road, traveled off the road about 600 feet, struck a guard rail and rolled over onto its passenger side.
Beauchemin, wearing a safety belt, was extricated by Trumbull emergency personnel and transported by ambulance in critical condition to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport.
There were no other occupants in the vehicle, which was a total loss, police said.
