Ron Moore visits Trumbull Center to instruct a three-day extrication course. Ron is the author of the University of Extrication series, featured each month in Firehouse magazine and is the moderator of the University of Extrication interactive web site on Firehouse.Com.
During the weekend of October 24-26, 2003, Trumbull firefighters had the opportunity of attending the "University of Extrication" instructed at Trumbull Center Station One by our guest Ron Moore. All three town departments (Trumbull Center, Long Hill, and Nichols) were in attendance as Ron got down to business with his advanced extrication techniques training. A few of the subjects covered included scene safety, air bag updates and deployment, scene size up, stabilization, & rescue. Entry using various tools including hydraulic, power, and manual, etc. Many different methods and techniques were discussed and attempted.
The class was an excellent opportunity for all firefighters and is highly recommended.
Ron Moore talks about techniques for rolling the dash, which pushes the steering wheel and entire dash assemply out in order to rescue or free a trapped patient.
