Trumbull Times December 2004 Holiday Message from the Chief
We’re approaching several major holidays where candles and decorations play an important and symbolic role in the celebrations. The fire chiefs want to advise everyone that although the candle flame is small and can easily be extinguished, there is extreme danger when they are misused. The NFPA reports that nearly 70% of fires started from candles are in the bedroom or living room of a home. Another remarkable statistic is that 85% of all candle fires are a result of misuse by the consumer.

Center Firefighters Ignite Christmas Tree
Members of the Trumbull Vol. Fire Company spent several days in preparing for what many people would never do - intentionally ignite a Christmas tree! The entire event was planned for several weeks to take place inside a house donated by JWM Associates which is comprised of several members of the dept.

The firefighters set up the tree a week in advance and left it without water. They spent the time in between gathering furniture, wrapping empty boxes and preparing the building to video the fire and place it on their website.
